Entering Coordinates into a Garmin 2610 without a computer?

Is this possible?

I've been searching through my manual and the various windows on my 2610, but have not figured out how to enter specific GPS coordinates into the system without being attached to my computer. I've had occasions recently when I've wanted to do this to create a destination without an address.

I know I can enter specific addresses, but...

Maybe I need to have it attached to my computer for this procedure?

You can dive right in on the map screen and create a new waypoint. Then, in the data fields for the waypoint, you can edit the lat/lon coordinates to suit. Keep in mind that, unlike Mapsource, the format cannot be changed from dd mm.mmm to any other.

I found a site talking about undocumented features. from that site:

"Define Waypoint by entering Lat/Long.

Press and hold the page key until a new waypoint is created. Then tap on the location and edit it for the new lat/long. You can only use the dd mm.mmm in WGS 84 format."

more info can be found by going there:

good luck!
