ClearwaterBMW
i've read a lot about that lately only 120 watts of EXTRA power around on the GS when running many aux lights equal that amount some have heated seats some of 2 sets of lights... etc... what's the most you've had running at one time withOUT any problems charging the battery while riding? thanks greg Link to comment
Marty Hill
Not sure where you get this info/it is incorrect. TT makes that statement regarding their dual hids. Their web site is incorrect. No other lights even come close. Of the many thousands of 12GS's/none have ever reported this problem either here or in europe. Link to comment
ClearwaterBMW
excellent marty, i'm glad you said that. someone pointed that out to me on the TT site... their stuff is pretty good, so i trusted what they said, even though it made no sense. i'm sure there's plenty of folks who've run heated clothing for 2 people (on high) and some aux lights and could still charge that battery glad you set me straight on that greg Link to comment
steve.foote
Greg, I run 20w motolights and 55w PIAA driving lights. While some might run 110w driving lamps, I only like my wildlife medium rare. Link to comment
ClearwaterBMW
do you have your motolights on the recommended radial caliper mount? i thought they only came in 35W, 50W and 75W. i suppose the PIAA's are under the turn signals? what about the LED turn signals, front and rear.... those look nice/especially for the front look... to help folks NOT turn in front of us greg Link to comment
teecro
I'm with Marty. I think you have a bad source on info. The Hex Heads have one of the strongest charging systems on the market. The alternator is capable of producing 720 watts of power. Link to comment

bmwscoot
The alternator is capable of producing 720 watts of power. Is this correct on a R12GS? I thought I read a post a while back that the GS has ~400 watts, and the RT was in the 700 watt range. Any info? Link to comment

Jeff your post got me to thinking that I may have made a mistake so I researched it and found out that I in deed did make a mistake. I was going on the assumption that all Hex Heads have 720 watt alternators because my new 05 RT has one. In researching it I found that the RT and the ST have the 720 while the GS has a 600 watt alternator. This is still better than most other bikes. Sorry my mistake. You know what is said about the word Assume ??? ASS-U-ME Link to comment
