SteveHebert
A friend of mine is trying to replace his fuel filter. How do you get the darn thing out of the tank? It looks like a plastic locking ring that spins onto the tank. We cannot figure it out. Anyone out there know how? Steve Link to comment
Calvin (no socks)
Steve I just checked the manual, and it appears that the ring threads off. Probably need to make a tool to remove the lock ring. It calls it a union nut. I haven't done one yet. Link to comment
SteveHebert
Thanks Calvin. We tried a filter wrench but it kept slipping. I can't imagine having a fancy tool on there. I guess the inner works stay still while the plastic ring threads around it. Steve Link to comment
ELP_JC
How about a strap wrench? Heard it works. You can buy them at Sears, and they do no damage at all. Link to comment
tallman
Steve, I'm "working" today. Will try to find out. Link to comment
SteveHebert
Thanks for all of the replies. I woke up to an e-mail this morning from Kent saying that he managed to get if off and replaced. I am not sure how he did it but I will find out and post. Steve Link to comment
Lee Sayers
I used a strap wrench to remove mine when I did it a couple years ago. It was the only thing that would work and not damage the plastic ring. Link to comment
