bross Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I've had 33,000 totally trouble free kms on my 06 RT but decided to try my first 4 cyl bike. I just bought a Honda CBF1000, pick it up Tuesday. I think the CBF will complement the Scrambler and DR nicely. We're moving next month and with setting up a new business most likely won't be taking any long trips, and since I bought the Scrambler the RT didn't get ridden much. Just got back from an awesome 8 day ride through the Kootenay's in British Columbia on the RT so went out on a high note. I haven't posted much on this forum, mostly lurking, but learned lots from everybody, thanks.
Wheels Rollin' Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I haven't posted much on this forum, mostly lurking, but learned lots from everybody, thanks. Congratulations on your new bike, bross... That... uh... doesn't mean you need to leave, ya' know... The learning never ends, so you may as well hang someplace you know to be valuable <>... Besides -- we'll expect a ride report on your CBF in the near future <>... ~ Bill
bross Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Got any pix of the CBF???????? Whip Sorry not yet, pick it up Tuesday and will post some pics. Here's some video of the RTs last ride... bross Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Got any pix of the CBF???????? Whip Here you go... Well as you can see by the pipes, I'm stepping away from my twin fixation of late... my first 4 cyl got ABS dual pipes and wings and wears the CB logo This thing is a blast. I just got back from 130km tire scrubbing session. It's got the latest gen CBR1000RR motor in it but they seriously detuned/retuned it, from 174hp in the CBR to 96hp in the CBF but they moved all the torque down low and in the middle which is basically where you ride all the time. You can literally just let the clutch out without touching the throttle and the bike will just pull away. It pulls from just off idle pretty much everywhere. And whatever top end they gave up I'll never see it. I took the demo bike up to 180km/h (112mph) and it was still pulling hard. Kind of an old man's naked bike, which suits me fine.

bross Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 That's NICE!!! Give us an update after you've spent some time with it. I sure would hate to go back to a chain, but that's NICE! Hey, you're preaching to the converted. After our two Honda Shadow chain driven bikes I swore I'd never own another and didn't for 5 years. Then we bought the DRs, not much choice when it comes to final drive with those bikes, and in that whole 5 years Jodie has always ridden chain driven bikes so I've never really gotten away from it. Bought a ScottOiler for her Ninja and haven't looked back. I moved her oiler to her Bonneville and bought one for the Scrambler before I even took delivery. Will be installing one on the CBF right away. I love them, we just got back from that 3400km trip and Jodie used just over half her bottle of lube so there really isn't any chain maintenance anymore, just check the tension once in awhile. How's the ergos vs. the RT ? Pretty bike. I'll just link to a post I wrote on CBF1000, Cliff's notes version is the ergo's are way better on the CBF for me. CBF to RT comparo
