chemman Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 A couple of weeks ago, I tried a new road home from a local cycle shop. Coming down a hill to a stop, I noticed a large catch basin at the bottom of the hill. You know, the large "sculpted" kind. Momma's children may not be pretty, but we ain't stupid. I duly rode around the basin and stopped; left foot down and then right foot down. And that is where Newton and gravity took over. I didn't ride through the basin, but putting my right foot DOWN into the edge of the basin was enough to tip me over and down we went. Ended up falling pretty hard. The mirror pod was completely knocked off, the mirror broken, the turn signal lens broken and the mount for the turn signal bulb broken. Some scratches to the side case and a huge dent to what's left of my ego. http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/default/blush.gif A couple of passers by helped me get the bike upright, as it was below horizontal, and out of the basin. All the parts have been repaired and another lesson learned - the hard way. No damage to yours truly, except for the ego thing.
Wheels Rollin' Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 All the parts have been repaired and another lesson learned - the hard way. No damage to yours truly, except for the ego thing. If it's any consolation to you, chemman, I suspect many here and elsewhere have had similar moments of one kind or another, some mystifying and some... well... just plain boneheaded <>... The important thing? A lesson learned -- and you weren't injured... File it away and go riding... ~ Bill
Bullett Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 good news is, lesson learned . . . I bet it won't happen again
