Francois_Dumas Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I promised to have a closer look at the new Shark Evoline hybrid helmet (flip-up/jet model) and we had a chance to try one on in a shop in France last week. Personally, I liked what I saw and felt, and Nina did not. So what’s the deal? The full story on my new (under construction) motor news site!
E30TECH Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 That helmet is pretty slick. After doing a currency conversion, I realized that the dollar is like a peso compared to the euro Hopefully they will be sold on this side of the pond.
AZKomet Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Not sure why one would want one? I always wear a full face flip up....this seems like another attempt to complicate matters in terms of equipment. I will stick with the flip ups.
Francois_Dumas Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 I think the reason for this particular model is that sometimes one wants to ride with the helmet open (because of temperatures just being too hot for comfort and riding slowly).... a regular flip-up is not made to ride with opened, it just catches too much wind. The Evoline doesn't because it folds BEHIND the helmet and doesn't stay ON TOP catching the wind.
BMT Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 ... a regular flip-up is not made to ride with opened, it just catches too much wind. Although I don't have a problem with wind flip-ups are usually only approved for use when closed. I know at least one rider in the UK who was stopped and cautioned for riding with the front open, but the Gendarmerie seem to take a more flexible view here in France.
Traveler1 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I have a ROOF helmet which looks pretty much the same as the Shark. My only complaint with the ROOF is poor ventilation inside the helmet, and it appears the SHARK has ventilation vents which would solve my only complaint. By the way, nice informative site you are setting up Francois.
