beammeup Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Just signed the papers on a new bike! (image lifted from BMW web site) TPM, ASC, ABS, Enduro Trans, heated grips, fog lights, Street Tires, no ESA (planning Ohlins) The bike is at a dealer in Illinois, so it will be few days before it arrives in Minnesnowta. I am very excited! Looking forward to farkling. I will be posting on the accessories board for advice. Also gonna have a bunch of RT farkles posted soon for sale.
Paul Mihalka Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Congrats on the new bike! For accessories and their evaluations check advrider.com. A bit rough once in a while but good information.
cali_beemer Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 congrats. I just bought my first GS, granted its a 04 1150 model, but I have been loving every minute of it. Very fun to ride.
JustJean Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 That is really nice! I really really like the looks of it!
Firefight911 Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Congrats!!!! You're gonna love it!! Beware the farkles!!!!!! LINKY
Wheels Rollin' Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I am very excited! As well you should be, Scott! <> Congratulations! I know you'll enjoy your new ride... Since it's been 'out there' for as long as it has, there'll be no end to the farkles you can add... Nice thing too -- your family will have some great gift-giving opportunities at Christmas! <>... Oh -- it's perfectly acceptable for Christmas to come at any time of the year you desire too... You.. uh... may want to pass that along as well <>... ~ Bill
Huzband Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Congrats!!!! You're gonna love it!! Beware the farkles!!!!!! LINKY If you spent half as much time riding as you do taking pictures of your farkles, maybe you'd have more than four thousand miles on it. Oh, and it's an Adventure... so why the flat spotted street tires?
RichEdwards Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Enjoy your GS, a wonderful bike. Keep us updated on the required Alaska trip.
beammeup Posted July 19, 2008 Author Posted July 19, 2008 I already did the Alaska thang....on an RT! This shot was taken on the Dempster, just south of the Arctic Circle

Was supposed to wait for retirement next year, couldn't wait. The GSA is the Humvee of motorcycles for sure. Seems like a cross between my Hayabusa and my RT. All the power you can use on the street, and great comfort. I like the wind protection, but allows lots of air circulation in the cockpit. The suspension is fantastic, better than my Wilbers on the RT. Already been two up on the dirt, wife likes it, after she got over a few slides (G). Need an aftermarket seat though, BMW obviously makes seats for design, not for function. Ordered a Sargent, 30 day money back quarantee, if that doesn't work, Russell for sure.
