keithb Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Hello All If you are in SoCal and planning to ride Glendora Ridge Rd. from the Glendora area to Mt. Baldy be careful. There is a lot of rocks and some dirt on the road. Either the ground has been shaking up there or the current position of rocks is not to their liking because a lot have moved from the shoulder or from up on the hill to the road surface. Several looked sufficient too slice/cut one's tire quite easily. YIKES!! Ride safe.
GregB Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 This seems to be a very common condition for this road. You must assume that there is debris in the road unless you can SEE that it is clear. Go fast in a few places, very slow in others. When I first started using this road, it was a dirt road (forest service road?). Even though they paved it around 40 years ago, it is still very much a paved dirt road, extremely tight and narrow with no guard rails and huge drop-offs most places. It is barely wide enough for two cars to pass and only has a center line for about a quarter mile of its entire length. Other hazards are idiots in tuner cars, cruisers struggling to get their bikes around corners, Foresty Service vehicles, etc. It is the perfect road for the X-Moto. Use the dirt to slide around on and the rocks for your slalom "cones". It now has 2,000 miles on it, about half of that on GMR, GRR, and Mt. Baldy Road. Mt Baldy Road is a freeway for that bike. The RT with the great visibility and lots of steering leverage does well also. Just steer through and around the rocks. It it a lousy Sportbike road since you set your line up well in advance and commit to a line through a corner. When the unexpected means that line is "wrong", you can have a problem. Keith, If you are up this way to ride the road with some advance notice, lets get a few people together and ride the road and have lunch in Mt. Baldy.

kuyaed33 Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Oooh, did someone say GMR? I've been up that way a couple o times
TonyTsai Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 couple o time?!?! that is too conservative! ride the slower bike this time, so we can catch up!
TonyTsai Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 if anyone like to burn some rubber before the Tues moto coffee, I will be there down at the front side at 5:30 and then hit the coffee spot for some jokes with Dave the affable! that would make my night ~
