Les is more Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 . . . and counting. On this last trip to the Unrally I crossed over the hundred thousand mile mark (my own miles) on the RT! The journey started at Marty Hill's place in Atlanta in April of 2003 where I picked up my new to me 2002 R1150RT and rode her back to San Diego. She had 30,019 miles on the clock then. After 5 years (one of which was stolen by poor health) she's sporting 131,530 miles. Yahoo!!!! And here's to another 100,000! Although I'm excited by those numbers, if you count sights seen, moments shared, friends made and the joy of riding with my wonderful husband within those miles, they become something of more value than I could ever quantify. Thanks to all who have been a part of this wonderful journey!!
Semper_Fi Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Congratulations Leslie - and many more miles!!!
Lone_RT_rider Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Congrats Leslie... Between the R1100S (13K), the R1100RT (97K) and the R1200RT (2.5 K) I am there too. Shawn
Misterxyz Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Good one. I still have about 18,000 before I get it to 100,000 Way to go girl!!!
Limecreek Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Although I'm excited by those numbers, if you count sights seen, moments shared, friends made and the joy of riding with my wonderful husband within those miles, they become something of more value than I could ever quantify. Oh, so true. You've inspired me to purchase a moto log and start documenting my trips; short and long, add my comments and paste in a few photos too. It will be something fun to look through 20 years from now. If I don't start writing it all down, I'll never remember the good times, the amazing trips with friends and all interesting people I've met from the saddle of my motorcycle. Congrats on the miles Leslie!
Selden Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 OK, it's time for a list newbie to ask questions; I can't stand it any longer: 1. What is the Unrally? 2. What is Torrey?
Marty Hill Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Ah Les, another happy customer. Glad your having a wonderful time.
Wheels Rollin' Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Heartfelt congratulations to ya', Leslie... Go celebrate this achievement in a manner befitting its stature in your life (nice to have those kind of options, eh? <>...)... Best wishes to ya' for as many more miles as you desire... ~ Bill
Les is more Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 We just finished our 7th Unrally Read all about it here. The Uns happen once a year and move all over the country with more or less and East/West swing. They are about the people and the riding--no games, no vendors---just a chance to live up to the On-road part of our logo. It truly is an eat, ride, sleep, repeat experience. You might also want to take a turn through the archives from the past Unrallies. Torrey is a twice a year ride to Torrey Utah near Capitol Reef National Monument. The calendar info is here. Do a search for Torrey in Ride Tales over the last couple of years and you'll see some pics and get a sense of what makes this gathering so special. Of course, you'll never really know until you show up. I've missed one Torrey since #4 and I've been to all of the Unrallies. Those rides are brilliant threads in the tapestry of my riding.
Marek Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That's very nice - I hope you will continue to ride. Best wishes - Mark
Ken H. Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Congats! I often wished I'd kept track over the years, but alas, I have no idea.
OoPEZoO Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Thats awesome Leslie. I'm going to roll over 100k miles myself in the next few weeks.
Todd_Z1 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Leslie, Congratulations! I feel honored to have shared a very small piece of your history in the making when we went on the snow ride in Death Valley this year. Thanks for letting me ride along. I look forward to more good times with you and Jaime and the rest of the gang. Cheers! Todd
Bullett Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Congratulations, Leslie! Soooo, I hear Marty might have a GS for sale soon.
russell_bynum Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Way to go, Les! I remember the noob wobbling around Gunnison with a goofy firefighter riding pillion of a groovy R1200C. Then the C started showing up all over the Southwest. Next thing you know, you're taking your first ride on an RT...by riding across the country with Marty on your[i/] RT. With a proper distance bike, the floodgates opened, and that silver beast started appearing everywhere from Canada to Deal's Gap. I think you still have the record for the most miles on a Pilot Road front tire. The miles milestone is cool, but what's happened in those miles is, I think, the real magic. Scanning back through the Ride Tales that Last forum shows some really special rides for you and Arianrhod. Here's to 100,000 more!
SageRider Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 ...I remember the noob wobbling around Gunnison with a goofy firefighter riding pillion of a groovy R1200C. Then the C started showing up all over the Southwest. Next thing you know... Congrats Leslie. Here's to many many more!
yabadabapal Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Although I'm excited by those numbers, if you count sights seen, moments shared, friends made and the joy of riding with my wonderful husband within those miles, they become something of more value than I could ever quantify. Congratulations and thanks for reminding me why Im getting a motorcycle.
Marty Hill Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Les's comment for the ages. After riding the C bike on shorter trips...Our first day was 665 miles. Les looked at me and said "I used to think you guys were special riding 600+ miles a day. That was easy on the RT. I cringed, we had a monster on our hands. Talk about being put in your place.
RichEdwards Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Congratulations Leslie! I think Marty should give a 100,000 mile warranty from the day of sale on every bike he sells.
Mike05 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Leslie, Congratulations & Well Done!! Many, many more. Mike & Joyce
