So I was looking up the oil requirements(API classification) and noticed the following on page 144 under Engine Design:

Longitudinally mounted twelve-cylinder, four-cycle opposed-twin engine with one overhead cam each, air cooling, oil-cooled exhaust system and electronic fuel injection.

Twelve Cylinder

Hey! What the XXXX. Mine is 10 cylinders short!

Only the '07 model in silver had the 12 cylinder motor... ;)

That's why I've hesitated to adjust my 48 valves until now. Thanks for clearing that up.

My dealer told me that page 144 was outsourced to China.

I must have received the small motor cause the manual states four-stroke opposed twin. Lotta valves on a 12/twin. Maybe.

Interesting Joe. Mine is a very early '06 so I assumed the manual had no changes from the original '05 - Thanks for the correction.

Darn, that oil-cooled exhaust system makes me think of running out to buy a BMW again. Oh, well, maybe next year from Harley . . .

OMG! And I just order 144 spark plugs thinking that would be enough for the next several 6k services!

If only the number of screws you have to remove to get at the battery a typo.... That would be GREAT!

Actually, when I first read it I thought "this has to be a mistake", but sadly, not the case.

Twelve is the new two.
