marcopolo Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Maintenance schedules are available for download on A&S BMW's website, and BMW Canada's website
Deek Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Maintenance schedules are available for download on A&S BMW's website, and BMW Canada's website I guess I'm dumber than a rock, but I cannot figure out from the BMW 1200RT's owners manual is the interval for valve adjustment (and other items) is every 12k or 6k mile. To me it reads like it's 12k, but I think I have read here that it is only 6k. Anyone have a page number in the owner's manual where it's CLEAR to someone of advanced age who apparently can't figure it out?
Semper_Fi Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Deek - My humble offering is to do it as part of every 6K interval. The valve adjustment is simple and very straight forward. I had great help by utilizing Jim's DVD as a walk thru guide. Discounting tupperware removal - I was done in 30 minutes (both cylenders) and it was my first time.

I will have to look into "Jim's DVD", I have a BMW DVD, but I think it's a Service Manual on DVD. Heck, if a Marine can do it, surely an ol' Squid can! Deek aka AdventureMan USNR Retired

marcopolo Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Maintenance intervals are every 10,000 kms (6,000 miles). One "type" of service is dome at 6,000 and another at 12,000. They then alternate for the life of the bike. Some items are done on a time, not mileage, basis (like brake fluid flushes). It takes a while to really understand the schedules.
