Wednesday July 16 2008 is National Ride to Work day.

For all that don't ride to work, please do.

For all that do, thanks for making a daily statement.

I ride to work every day, but I make an extra effort to ride on Ride to work day. With the gas prices on the rise the way they have there is already an extra presence out there. People in our area are really aware of how many new motorcyclists and scooters are about. This can only help to further show others that are somehow missing this.

I ride to work pretty much every day (at least this time of year). With the great weather we're having this week I wish I was riding somewhere else though.

Me too. Have been commuting on two wheels since roughly April 1st. These days it's on a KLR250 rather than the RT though... to a tune of approx 60mpg!

I'm trying to get the 2 guys in my office with motorbikes and the one with a scooter to ride. Guy #1 has one of those M109 cruisers - bought it brand new last year, 2500 miles on it now. The other guy has a big Japanese made Harley looking thing, also bought brand new last summer, 1500 miles on it last time I looked (which was months ago, the last time he rode...). The third uses his scooter to get from his motorhome to the store after towing his boat to the lake at 4 mpg and has never ridden it to work.

All three of them refer to my ATGATT as a "snow suit" and think it's just hilarious that I'd ride a motorcycle to another state.

I've included the bicycle rider here as well, but he rides pretty much every day already.

I've been riding to work and almost everywhere else since the 70's. I may have to walk to work on Wed just be more effective. I will wear my'Stitch' though.

Nah, I'll ride like every other day.

In my RoadCrafter on the way to work I had some young folks ask if I was in the Air Force, musta been the moon suit I was wearing.

I'll be on two wheels tomorrow.

I would love to ride to work but to dangerous! I work downtown in a lot of congestion and I'm a new rider and my husband won't let me. :/

Posted

Ugh, my ass twitches at the mere thought of getting on the bike.

But I'll remain faithful to the day as always.

I'll be on the bike for sure.......I just checked last night and I haven't put a tank of gas in my truck since April :)

I'm on for it. I really hate the parking garage at work, but it is good practice. Plus, I can park the bike in spaces I wouldn't dare park my car.

Do I have to get a job? Can I just bungee an attache case to the luggage rack and go out for breakfast?

5 Days to work in truck $80.00 in gas.

5 Days to work on bike $26.00 in gas.

Ride in on Ride to work day. PRICELESS!

Great ride into work today, wasn’t raining, nobody tired to kill me,

mission accomplished.

12 (maybe 13) raindrops on the way in. No more bikes than usual to my eye.

One other motorcycle from my office. Gigantic cruiser rider didn't - no room for his laptop bag on his 800lb 1800cc bike with saddle bags...

And she even road the R1100R! Amazing..lol. She followed me right up to work today and then left for the rest of her commute. :)

It was almost too nice to stop riding this morning. What a gorgeous day!

Three customers to visit today and don't need anything bigger than a laptop. I'll be taking the RT as I do about half the time.

I didn't notice any more bikes this morning than usual. I rode, but didn't know it was a special day :)

Did have an interview, didn't ride the bike. Or, could I.... is AGATT business dress?

Does it count if I wear my helmet as I check out the employment websites?

Saw a lot more Beemers on the road today, but that's probably because I was southbound on I-25, heading the opposite direction from Gillette, WY, site of the national rally.

only my bike and a custom at work today.

I didn't notice any difference, despite perfect commuting conditions.

Sorry ... Phx high = 108 F = mini + A/C

Pretty sickening. Only 3 bikes at work today and it was a perfect riding day... 89 high with 62 dewpoint, fair weather clouds, light winds... just perfect! There are at least a dozen of us who ride. Me? Daily. Once in past two months I took the truck. It was storming bad. Otherwise 100% on the RT.

I rode in today and was reminded why I don't ride to work...unless i have a dual sport. The combination of gravel parking lot and lots of corn by-product particulate being blown from my workplace, left the bike with a nice layer of grit. I had to wash that s*** off when I got home.

I only live 3 miles from work, but I at least took the long way and made it about 6 miles.

I might have to add a small dual sport back to the stable some day.

I saw hte typical 5 or 6 bikes in the lot I use and about 5 more in a second parking lot. So bikes make up about 6-8% of vehicles at my work.

It seemed like I saw fewer bikes than usual on the way to/from work, but there was a nice Harley dresser in the parking garage that I hadn't seen before . . . it was 82 and humid this morning. . . unusually warm, and damp, for here . . . and I was glad to walk into my freezing cold office for once.

I park My bike at work front and center in the work yard at a designated space. alot of dust, dirt and wind blown crap all day. answer, dust cover!

I rode, traffic was terrible, but I dealt with it.
