I have about 7300 miles on a set of Bridgestone BattlAx (spelling) after a 6000 mile tour and they look good for at least another 3000. FYI only, and detected no dissatisfactions at all on just about all road surfaces, but mostly good roads.

My '07 RT came with them and I only got 6K out of them. I too had no complaints, just wishing for more miles out of them.

I think the 020s are being replaced with 014s. I'm thinking about going with one of the new dual compound tires next.

You are kinda close. The 014's preceded the 020's. Now the 020's have been replaced with 021's.

Not quite true AFAIK - the 020s (CC and AA variants) are still the only approved tyre for the 1200RT. I have used both the 020s and the 021s and belive the 020s' handling (especially as they get worn) is vastly superior to the 021's (which do not have stiffer sidewall variants). Allegedly, Bridgestone are obliged to keepo producing the (excellent IMO) 020 CC and AA as they are OEM equipment. Sometimes newer is not better!

On my R1200ST, I got 9900 miles on my 020s and probably had a couple hundred more available. I changed them to new 020s because I was leaving on a long trip. After that 9,600 mile trip, my second set of 020s still have quite a bit of life in them (front maybe 500 miles, rear at least another 200 miles). I've ridden them hard in mountain twisties, for hours at high speed through the hot flat straights in the NM, AZ and TX deserts and in heavy rain and 30 mph crosswinds (about half of all that two-up and fully loaded). I'm not changing tire types as long as the 020s remain available.

I would agree that the 020 is a better handling tire but they are not readily available in the the US. I wouldn't care if the 021s lasted 20,000 miles I won't buy another set of the 021s. They are by far the worst tire I've had on my bike!

My 021 rear is doing fine, 11k and still going. The front on the other hand was the worst tire i ever had, only lasted 6k and the noise and handling were terrible. The bike felt heavy and resisted cornering. Switched to a roadsmart and all is well again
