Friends,

I am in process to replace tires in my R1150RT (first time)

In base of your experience, I want to know what could be the best tier option (durability / grip)

Best regards.

Metzler Z6 tires have been my favorite but I may have to try the new Dunlop Road Smarts next.

If you are looking for a higher mileage tire. The tire of choice seems to be the Metzeler ME880. I just put a set on my 05 RT. I know I am looking for better mileage. So far I have had Bridgestone 020's, Metzeler Z6's, Pirelli's, and Avon's on it and they have been averaging at the most 6K miles per set.

You sound alot like me. I have now put 8896 miles on the original Dunlop D205's that came on the bike originally. I just ordered the Dunlop D220's today due to price and wearability reviews. The RoadSamrts are about $40.00 per set but I didn't find anyone who had experience with them yet.

Try calling Ron Ayres in greenville, NC. They have a massive web presence and stock tons of tires. I live here so they're super easy for me to pickup. CALL THEM...do not just check the price of the tires on the web as they are listed as MSRP I beleive. the website told me $396 for the set of D220's, but when I called they told me at the parts dept the cost would be $212.00 call the shop number listed on the about us section of their website...it's a 252 area code number.

Good Luck!

I think you will find the D220's will wear fast. I had the Original d205 which were OK and got about 12K out of by pushing the envelope. I then installed a d220 which I got 8k out of but again, really pushing it only because I was commuting 12 miles to work. 6.5K is more like it.

I just installed a Rear Roadsmart and have never experienced such confidence inspiring tire. I know a lot has to do with going from a worn, squared off tire to a brand new one but I am really impressed by the Roadsmart. I will probably order the front even thought the d220 front still has life left in it.

Price wise, I think I paid around 150.

do a search on ShovelstrokeEd. I believe he has 6k-8k on a set of Roadsmart with positive reviews.
