Rocker Arm End Play

Did my 6000 maintance check and used Jim V.'s DVD (Excellent information and a must have).

During the valve adjust i did check the end play, it was about 0.30 mm on the exhaust side and about 0.25 for the intake side (similar on both cylenders).

When I went to adjust (per video) i did not seem to get anything out of it.

Questions:

1 - how much do I have to loosen the torx bolts

2 - how much do I have to loosen the head bolt

I would like to get the end play down closer to the 0.05 level

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

This probably will not help, but when I look at the JvB DVD it looks like he loosened the fasteners enough to tap the arm holders with a ball peen hammer, and he is not tapping all that hard... I think loosen enough to let them move with a top.

If you tap and nothing moves, loosen some more.....

Hopz - thanks for the insight - my concern is how much can I loosen with out having a negative effect.

Have you done this adjustment?

Look in your personal mail. I send you a video that should help.

You can loosen them completely with no adverse effects.

My experience is the they need to be something more than finger tight, but less than snug for the holder to be 'tap-able'. If that makes any sense.

Ken - that does make sense - was a little leery of "over loosening" - first time doing the adjustment.

Will check out Gregory's video he sent me and may try again to set it right.
