Tonopah Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 My brother has Autocom on his RT. He has trouble hearing conversation at speed through the helmet speakers. The Autocom is set up right -- it's just that his hearing loss makes hearing clearly a problem. Can he use in ear speakers with his Autocom? How can he set that up (where does he plug them in?) and would he still be able to use his Autocom mic?

Kritou Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 For about $30 Autocom will make you a helmet harness without speakers or mic but with a 3.5mm plug for your in ear monitors - you just plug your original mic onto the red plastic connector. Much neater and less bulky than the 1187/1186 - it's what most of the Autocom boys use themselves It may be that it has to come from UK so an email to enquiries@autocom.co.uk might be in order
realshelby Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I use an EdSets brand harness, mic, speaker setup for my Zumo. I couldn't hear well enough either. I cut the leads to the helmet speakers, installed a female mini-plug connector from Radio Shack. Mounted the connector to the side of my helmet. Now I simply plug my in-ear speakers into the plug on the side of my helmet, then plug the main connector to the helmet connector. I have tried several versions of helmet speakers. I just can't get them to compare to quality in-ear speakers.
Ken H. Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 http://www.autocomamerica.com/product_details.cfm/productid/25785 +1 What 'bobbybob' said. 1188 is the coiled version, 1187 is the straight lead version. Each has a jack on it for your ear bud speakers and the mic continues to work normally.
