Wheels Rollin' Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 There have been a number of posts here lately speaking of close calls and 'bozo' antics on the part of cagers, each of them insightful and informative... Thanks to all who've shared their experiences... I thought I'd toss this into the mix... I went riding today here in Central Iowa, a near 4-hour mix of Interstate, two-lanes, and, to top it off, some purposely ridden stop-n-go, close-quarters drill to practice some in-traffic skills... OK -- hold your breath... Believe it or not, in none of my time in the saddle over the course of that did I witness nor experience anything remotely close to a traffic violation on the part of anyone in my field of vision... I experienced courtesy and 'I-do-know-how-to-dance' demonstrations time after time... What gives? Luck of the day? Just some decent, 'I-really-do-take-this-driving-thing-serious' folk? The Preacher's sermon really sinking in? I honestly can't remember the past time I went riding that I didn't have to complete at least one evasive maneuver to avoid becoming a Department Of Public Safety accident | incident statistic... But today? Well... None... Sheesh! I can't believe it! What's the world coming to? <>... John Lennon told us all to 'Imagine'... Maybe this is something else upon which that can work <>... ~ Bill
Jeepster Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Isn't it truly amazing when the stars align and you can actually have a perfect day of riding. Even out here on the fringes of LaLa land it is still possible to have an enjoyable day of riding. You just have to affix days like this in your memories to get you through the bad ones. Congrats on another day of WHY most of us do what we do.
Mark_Turner Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Consider yourself lucky that you don't don't live in a god forsaken place like Chicago! Even when your in your car it seems like some one who got their drivers license in a cracker jack box is out to get you.
