Tominator Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Friend of mine had to make a emergency stop last week. He called me today and said his Drivers Information Display is not displaying Fuel, Temp and Gear indicator. Clock two last digits and backlighting are the only two things working? Ideas? I suspect the LCD display has come disloged off the printed circuit board? The conector is pretty beefy...but maybe its loose. (2002 R1150RT) Tomas
Ken H. Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 The RID actually gets power from two fuses, F1 and F4 if I remember right. Check them all.
Tominator Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Hes out of town, Told me he checked all fuses. Thanks for that info...not stated in the manual! Ill make sure he pulls them and checks them with a tester! Thanks Tomas
ShovelStrokeEd Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Why test? Just throw a couple of new fuses in there. I've seen fuses test good with an ohmmeter and still not be able to carry minimal current. Make sure you remove and insert them a couple of times as well. It also could be the connector in the harness. The bike is 6 years old after all. Corrosion and entropy eventually gets to everything.
