DMilan Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Hello All, Way back in '98 I purchased a Belstaff Jacket at the annual traveling national M-C Dog and Poney show here in Cleveland OH USA. The jacket has been fantastic. I never realized, untill now, what a superb colar design it has. Sort of a firm, high colar, adjustable with a double D ring and strap closure. You can cinch it as snug as you want, or not. I just took this feature for granted. Bought a new jacket this year at the same traveling road show. Different manufacturer. Neglected to pay attention to the colar design(beer). It is terrible. 19 inches when the velcro is mated. I have a 16" neck, the jacket fits fine otherwise. Horrible. You can stuff a tennis ball through there. How can you ever stop cold and rain from intuding when needed. This got me started. I've been looking now. Can't find a jacket, even BMW apparel, that has an effective colar closure system that compares to my 10 year old Belstaff Typhoon (sp?). Comments or a jacket to recommend? Just wondering Dmilan
jwg122843 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 A jacket that I really enjoy is the Spidi Ergo H2Out. Not just the collar; there are lots of other features as well. Quality from top to bottom.
DMilan Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 A jacket that I really enjoy is the Spidi Ergo H2Out. Not just the collar; there are lots of other features as well. Quality from top to bottom. Appreciate it, Checked it out. Is that a Double D-ring and strap closure at the neck? Poor pics, weak description... micrometric indeed. How does it vent? Again, weak description, zero close-up, detail pics. Looks to be a winner. It's last years model though. Not sure which '08 is the replacement. Armada H2Out maybe? Thanks again DMilan
Marek Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 This is what I use and love it Link . It fills the gap between the helmet and the jacket, you can pull it up over your face as a dust mask, in a hot weather you can get it wet to provide a little evaporative cooling. Mark
jimswms Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Hey, might be worth a look at the new BMW Tourance. I think Tourance 2 or 3? Not sure, but, it has a very unique neck closure. Velcro on both sides of neck to cinch up sides, then, the standard closure in the middle at the neck. I tried one on and was impressed. Very nice! It might be my winter jacket...
jwg122843 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I will be glad to send you some photos of the neck closure of mine if that would help. The venting is full zippers under the arms and also across the back. The pockets have a unique manner of design to make them waterproof. And three of the pockets snap off if you do not need them. The third removable pocket is a wide one that is on the back.I basically have three jackets, the Aerostich Darien with removable fleece liner, a BMW Airflow jacket for summer and the Spidi H20ut. I favor the Spidi over the others, except for rainy weather in which case I go for the 'Stich because the outer surface of it is waterproof where the Spidi has the waterproof liner inside the main jacket, which I guess is the European way of dealing with this.
