Norway

I finally got around to organizing a slide show of my ride to North Cape, Norway, last year. 'Don't do today what you can put off 'til tomorrow, when you might not have to do it.'

Norway is made for riding, if a little rain doesn't bother you. Once north of Trondheim, it's 1,700 kms and about four traffic lights to North Cape. The scenery is magnificant, virgin forests and clean water, and air you can't smell, touch, or taste. Roads are generally in good nick, traffic outside the towns is almost non-existent, and plenty of curves make for hours of fun. Hope you enjoy the ride...

Paul - your pictures brought a lot of memories from 30 year ago. I was in Hammerfest on my way to Bear Island and Spitsbergen. Norway is my favorite country in Europe, clean, fresh and beautiful - thanks a lot.

By the way some of your pictures need to be in the gallery - great shots.

Thanks for posting these photos, even though they make me feel "dated" - the last time I went to Malmo from Copenhagen there was no bridge - you had to take a boat.

Beautiful! Thanks/another ride I want to take.

Wonderful pictures Paul..... scratching my head again.. maybe living there is a better idea than the ever-warming south of France after all ?? :/

I used to have a view of the Copenhagen-Malmö bridge from my office in Copenhagen...... memories..... :)

Thanks. You should publish a book.

Marty,

You are not allowed to go to Norway unless you meet one of two conditions:

(1) You take a camera and take "worthy" pictures and share them.

(2) We go together and I'll take the "worthy" pictures and share them on your behalf.

Cheers!

Thank you for taking the time to post. Magical. I love photo no. 10 with the perfect reflection of the scenery in the water.

Most excellent photos, Paul.

And thanks for including photo captions; something that so many fail to do.

I noticed those photos were taken in June. I always though most riders go up there in late July to the end of August. I'm happy to see that you had perfect weather up at Nordkapp.

I'm drooling .... in anticipation. I'm flying to Trondheim 2 weeks from today to ride the Edelweiss scouting tour to the North Cape. I'm not that handy with a camera so probably won't match your photo work, but I'll give it my best. Scott

What is a scouting tour?

Great, thanks. Very beautiful, and beautifully conveyed as well.

"Scouting Tour" is a classification used by Edeleiss to designate the first time they conduct a tour of a given location. I've been told that it's a gentle reminder that there may be a few bugs to be worked out on the agenda. Participation is generally limited to riders that have gone on a previous Edelwiess tour and were found amenable to spontenaity and new sensations (as I would assume most people on this board are.) Apparently the tour guides evaluate the skills and attitude of their clients to make sure people don't get into deep water on future more challenging tours -- of course this may only be my imagination, but I had that odd sensation of being covertly observed/evaluated when riding Alaska last year.
