SKYGZR Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Anyone here know the happenings if the HAL sensor becomes faulty? The reason I ask is because the trusty K has decided to start acting up. Here's the short version. Awhile ago, lost the neutral light (bulb is OK), yet no light, no big deal. Gear position indicator replaced awhile ago and functions. Even with the side-stand up, and in neutral, have had to engage the clutch to start, once again, no biggie. Starter recently serviced, and new battery. Began to notice that sometimes when turning the key on, the tach needle would jump up to around readline, then settle back down, then would start. Now, it'll turn over, but only for a few revs, then stop. Hit the starter button again, same thing. I can hear it wanting to fire, yet won't "take off". Have a spare Ignition Control Unit which I swapped out, same thing. Local BMW K guy mentioned that since the starter times out after a few revs, it thinks the machine is up and running. He mentioned a possible ground, or open hot somewhere. Any suggestions where to start? (Cross posting this also in the OilHead area).
