BeemerBuddy Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Sometimes the choke cable on my RT pops out of the holder when I close the choke switch. When this happens, the idle stays advanced till I push the cable back into the slot on the control. Anybody else experience this "problem"? Yeah, I didn't search, so no need for admonishment if it's on here. Thanks!
GordonB Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 That could mean that could the cable is frayed and the friction is causing to hold up and not slide back when released, but unlikely given the amount of use it gets relative to the throttle cable. The bowden box is probably gummed up with dirt and stuff and needs to be blown out.
Mark K Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Yea, you're going to need a new fast idle cable if it bothers you that much. [edit] ....guess I should have looked at your bike year before posting that.....the older 1100s are so much simpler.....[end edit]
Jim Moore Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Here's an article on the problem and how to fix it. When it happened to me I just left it alone. It eventually fixed itself. http://ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/R11throttlecables.shtml
John844 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Mine does that too sometimes. Mine will pop back into place as soon as I move the throttle. I have got into the habit of bliping the throttle as I release the fast idle(choke). I have been too lazy to take mine apart.
