Deltamark Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Hey all, I've had my 1999 R1100RT for just over two years now and I love it, but am wondering if there's some way to improve my riding comfort on longer excursions. I have bar risers and a Sargent seat, but my upper back tightens up when riding longer distances. (For me, that's 250 - 450 mile days). Would a seat pad help, or is there something additional I can do to get the bars closer to me? I don't seem to have this problem when I ride my F650GS. Just wonderin'. Mark
Deltamark Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 Have you tried the MYRP? No Woodie, I haven't tried the MYRP. (What is the MYRP?)
ArthurKnowles Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I personally use the Back-A-Line back support sold by cyclegear.com. Best 50 bucks I ever spent.
bakerzdosen Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 MYRP You'll find plenty of people on this board who will swear by it.
OoPEZoO Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 What worked best for me was getting rid of the bar risers. They were on the bike when I bought it, but being 6'2" with long arms......I found that I was really too cramped. They were causing my shoulders to be pushed up and back which caused soreness between my upper shoulder blades. It is still not perfect, but much better. I think the handlebars are angled back towards the rider too much for me. I have thought many times of removing the stock bars and replacing them with a set of GS or Renthal style dirtbike bars. Just my $.02 of course
russell_bynum Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 MYRP You'll find plenty of people on this board who will swear by it. Count me as the head MYPR evangelist. Before MYRP, I had pain between my shoulder blades, I was sure I needed an aftermarket windscreen, and didn't know how anyone sat on the stock saddle for more than 2 hours. After MYRP, I did multiple 1200+ mile days with the stock windscreen and stock saddle without any problems. It does take a little while to adapt (you're using muscles that you've spent most of your life learning how to not use) but once you get it, you'll never look back.
