Replacing fork oil

I determined that the cause of the fluid spraying on the inside of my windshield was my front fork leaking from the top seal. I think I have it stopped but am concerned that the leak may have depleted the amount of oil required.

How do you check / add oil to the damper? I understand it's 10W but want to be sure I do this right.

By the way and for the edification of other New York riders, don't let the guy who does your annual inspection, affix the sticker to the top part of the fork tube. I think that messed with the seal.

Thanks in advance.

The first thing to note is that the oil is only for lubrication of the fork slider - it is not a damper, that role is taken by the front shock.

To check or add oil you have to drop the fork leg, which as the the forks are not part of the suspension system is an easy task. I would reccomend getting hold of a manual and following that as though it is straight forward you will need to know which bits to heat to release loctite and what torque settings to use on reassembly.
