BeemerBuddy Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Anyone converted the front turn signals into running lights? Link to a Write-up / walkthrough? Can this be done without affecting the rear turn signals?
Robt_J_Webster Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Look at the "SignalMinder", from Kisan technologies http://www.kisantech.com/. It converts both front and rear to running lights with adjustable degrees of brightness. In addition, it makes it so that you can cancel the signal by pushing the button again instead of using the standard one that's hard to operate with heavy gloves, and gives automatic signal cancellation. Look at model #SM-5 for the RT.
AnRSguy Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 You can do it by swapping out the turn signal holders and bulbs to 1157's. Requires a bit of wiring but not that difficult. The bad news is that the bulb holders don't fit perfectly and are no longer weathproof. I have a Signal Minder but having the rear turn signals (amber) illuminated is illegal in VA and it also causes the indicators on your dash to be illuminated which I found to be irritating.
moshe_levy Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 You can also buy RUN-N-LITES http://www.run-n-lites.com/products.asp Works fine - easy to install. Here's mine http://www.mklsportster.com/r1150rt/rtfrontlights.jpg -MKL

ArthurKnowles Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Actually, I think there are a few kits that do convert the stock bulbs to 1157 and are a press fit. I know mine came to me that way as already. I actually have a spare set of them if you are interested. I took them off the rear and repalced them with sa custom LED cluster. But they will fit on the front too. Just PM me if you want the sockets and we'll work out the postage details.
Tomthebomb Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 +1 Run-n-Lites. Easy install and everything you need supplied with the kit. Did fronts only (for now).
