San Jose CA H25-Coalinga-H198-H25 Loop 13 July

Hi all,

 

I will be leading a "spirited" ride down to Coalinga for lunch then back on 198 and 25 on Sunday. This is an open invitation to partake in as fine a romp as can be had on two wheels around the foothills of the south bay and coastal mountains. We will be stopping for Lunch at Perkos in Coalinga CA.

Starbucks 854 Blossom Hill Rd San Jose, CA 95123?

 

NOTES: Fill up your tank before arriving at Starbucks. There is a gas station across the street on the corner of Blossom Hill and Santa Teresa.

 

ROUTE:

 

(1) Santa Teresa to H85 S. ®

(2) H85 S to 101 S (Merge)

(3) H101 S to H156 E San Juan Hollister Road ®

(4) San Juan Hollister Road to Union Road ®

(5) Union Road to Southside Road ®

(6) Southside Road to Tres Pinos Stop for gas. (Pickup point)

(7) H25 S to Coalinga Road (L) (Regroup)

(8) Coalinga Road to Los Gatos Road (Continue)

(9) Los Gatos Road to South Derrick Blvd ® (Regroup)

(10 ) South Derrick Blvd turns into Jayne Ave.

GAS first then Perkos for lunch. (Coalinga)

(11) H198 to H25 ®

(12) H25 to Tres Pinos

(13) Southside Road to Union Road (L)

(14) Union Road to The Alameda/3rd ® (San Juan Bautista)

(15) 3rd to Donner ®

(16) Donner to 1st (L)

(17) 1st Becomes San Juan Highway

(18) San Juan Highway to Anzar (L)

(19) Anzar to School ®

(20) School to 129 Riverside (L)

(21) 129 Riverside to Carlton ®

(22) Carlton to 152 ®

(23) 152 to Watsonville Road (L)

(24) Watsonville to Uvas (L)

(25) Stop at Uvas Lake to say G-byes

(26) Uvas to McKean to Harry ®

(27) Left on Almaden rd (Becomes Almaden Expressway)

Sounds like fun,however I'm doing the Fresno-Gillette,WY-Fresno loop starting that morning

 

Enjoy the ride,those are nice roads.

 

Good thing you picked that weekend,every squid in the west will be out on those roads the following weekend,what with the MotoGP circus in the area.

Hey Todd,

 

Enjoy some pie in w'ville. Heading north from there you will come on a one way bridge with a stop light. Not sure how new it is so thought I'd mention it. Other than that, great road.

todd, i think there is a Gold Country I-BMW K bike rally in September (Sonora), I will definitely hit that, and Stewart's point, which i heard is very closed to "heaven" for us. when the dates get closer, i will let you know to exchange some contact/meeting info.

Why don't you blow off the Coalinga thing and ride over to Kings Canyon this weekend and hang out. I will be there with about 8 or 9 other people camping in Stoney Creek campground which is about halfway through the park on General's Highway. Leaving Friday morning from H.B. at 5 am for a quick jaunt up I-5, Rt. 99 and Rt. 65 to Porterville. From there it is two lane twisties.

I rode it just today and the road is in fine shape. The only fly in the ointment might be that the Hollister Rally is this weekend and will be ending on the 13th. I saw a lot of HDs headed north today and I expect you'll see a lot headed south on Sunday.

Thanks for the update on road conditions and the Hollister rally. H25 is one of the best roads in all of the SF Bay area. It is in perfect condition, with little traffic, even on the weekends. I have seen one Sheriff's car in the last eight years. Even with the rally traffic it will be a great ride.

Geez Todd I didn't know you were going to have a train of riders behind you. Kings Canyon and Sequoia was just grand. I hope you and your fellow riders had a great time on Sunday.
