KingBiscuit Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 For those of you familiar with Ohio SR 555, you know this can be one of the most fun motorcycle roads you will ever ride. However, in recent years the road surface has gotten pretty bad south of SR 278. If you've been avoiding SR 555, like I have...REJOICE! Today, I just did 555 from start (Zanesville, OH) to finish (SR 50 near Mariatta OH) and the ride was spectacular! From Zanesville to SR 37, the surface is GOOD, but could be better. From SR 37 to SR 78, the surface is very good...just redone a couple years back. From SR 37 to Chesterhill, OH. Much cleaner than I have seen it in recent years. Looks like it might be resurfaced soon from the construction signs I saw. From Chesterhill, OH to Decaturville, OH, The road is absolutely perfect. The surface is so new, as of today, it doesn't have a center line or edge lines. From Decaturville on to 50, the road is in good condition. If you've never been on SR 555 (aka Triple Nickel), and you're in SE Ohio you should give it a go. I rate this route up there with Deal's Gap. If you know the road and have not ridden it in a while, give it a shot. You'll love it. Dan
ncsonderman Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 That sure is a great ride! A few of my buddies and I used to ride out there from Columbus every other weekend or so dressed out in full leathers and ready to tumble ( I meant rumble ). The triple nickle may not be as curvy as the dragon, but the lack of traffic and LE attention make up for that. Great post!
