Who makes the highest quality trailer tires?

Since you put it that way ... my Wells Cargo came with Duro tyres, they seem fine but I don't know how to judge such things.

Trailer tires die of dryrot more than anything else. Want your tires to last "forever"?? Keep the trailer rolling.

 

By flexing the sidewall, carbon black is released, which keeps the tires from rotting and cracking.

my trailer currently has duros (a chinese comapany). the trailer was a cheap chinese knock-off so i assumed the tire wouldn't be "the michelin of trailer tire". wells cargo, obviuosly, is a quality mfg. are those the oem tires or added later. what makes me ask is this source for this brand (carlisle - a us company): http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIRES/Carlisle/carlisle_usa_trail.htm the tire i need is a 5.3 x 12" - c/6 $40.64. looking at the duro: http://www.tiresunlimited.com/ALL%20TIRES/Duro/Trailer/duro_trailer_tires_index.htm same tire costs $27.68? now more $ doesn't always buy a better product but i have a legit question here. maybe the duro tires that other webpage was talking about was for the larger size trailer tires.

You might look at Tow-Master tires. I understand that they are one of the better options, and several higher end trailer manufacturers use them as OEM tires.

I bought my Wells Cargo directly from an approved dealer and those are the tyres that came with it, I have no personal knowledge of how good they are, nor how to tell how good a trailer tyre is. I could try taking the trailer up on sweeper madness and see how it handles

did some more reading. carlisle have some reliability issues. duros are cheap and work. titans are the best for my size. if you have larger tires then michelins (go figure) then bf goodridge are the best.

doing google searches and then reading what people had to say in forums, i came up with a general trend. no hard facts just what people are saying.

talked to a local trailer dealer. for my size he said towmaster(greenball corp) #1 http://www.greenball.com/tires/biastrailer.htm , titan #2. he was not impressed with carlisle and so-so with duro (towmaster knock-off). for larger trailers he said michelin was the best but very pricey.

maybe you could rent a high school kid and have him ride in the back and give you feedback.

 

seriously though i think i'll get some tow-master tires (for the name alone). like anything else there is always a range of quality & blow-out are not fun.
