Bullett
I need new tires for my R26. According to my owner's manual, the OEM tires were 3.25 x 18. I found these Avon AM26 tires that come in this size. The tire comes in a "universal" spec, so should work on the front or rear. The tires look a bit modern, but seem like they might be nice tires. http://www.revzilla.com/product/avon-roadrider-am26-front-tires So. . . I'm thinking of a 90/90 18 on the front and a 100/90 18 on the rear. I know Cheng Shin makes a tire that's 3.5 x 18, but I'm thinking the Avons might be a better quality tire, and a closer fit with the OEM recommendations. Does anybody here have experience with these tires on an old bike? Any other suggestions? Link to comment
Boffin
Pirelli do a 3.25x18 52S city demon. I have no experience with these, just another data point. Andy Link to comment
SinNH
Simply, I love Avons. I use AM26's on my R100, probably third set or more. On my R1100 I use the Avon Storms. Easy mount, nice balance, and most of all great feel. I think both are excellent in the rain , but I don't push too much in the rain. Chen Shin's ? Not for me, I bought a Norton a few years back that came with those "tires" on, absolute garbage. Installed the Dunlop TT100's ( made especially for Nortons)and that great handling came right back. Just my opinions,,,,,, Steve Link to comment
