JerryMather Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Guy Webster is a friend of ours that has put together one of the finest collection of Italian race bikes in the world and has invited us to his open house this sunday. In the past, he has allowed only small groups of gearheads into his little slice of heaven a few times a year because the collection was located at his home. He's since moved the collection to a new location and his seventyfive or so motorcycles will now be displayed along with his friends automobile collection that includes a few very historical F-1 cars. One of them is, one of the Player cars that I think, won the championship but I've forgotten the racers name & don't know which year that was. I can't wait to see this stuff again. Here's a background article that the Robb Report did about him.
Firefight911 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Wow!! That is a guy who is passionate about his collection and equally aware of what he is, its history, and its appeal. Thanks Jerry!! That was enjoyable. Post when you get back so we can hear how it was.
Paul Mihalka Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Amazing! I put it on my list of must-see if I ever get within 500 miles.
hANNAbONE Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 wOW..! I say the next "UN" is at this cat's house...we camp on the property and feed him our BBQ whilst we peruse his iron....what a cool collection.! I am in awe.!
notacop Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 We're riding there tomorrow with the Norton club. The display at his house was always fun. Mostly the best of the best and rare.
bimmers Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Fantastico, what has this guy done to get there? I have a Ducati in the stable and agree that it is so different from the rt and the gs (of course) but wow. h
JerryMather Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 Fantastico, what has this guy done to get there? Read this and you'll get an idea.
notacop Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I think he did something with albums in the days of Vinyl. In any case his collection is quite nice. Went there today.Since I've seen the bikes a time or two I was more interested in the cars that share the floor space. Race cars you don't find normally in your neighbors garage. The assembly of bikes in the parking lot was worth viewing too! Perfect So Cal weather. And the mountains were still capped with snow, absolutely beautiful...
EffBee Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Met Guy years ago through my very close friend, Marcel Fortney. Marcel and I grew up together in the motorcycle industry. Guy's collection is absolutely impeccable. His love for things Italian, and Italian motorcycles in particular, just reaches out and captures you. Guy was the perfect host. Sadly, the last time I was at guy's place was a little more than a year ago, for Marcel's wake.
