UberXY
Anyone heard much in the way of rumors (not desires) about the next generation boxers? Link to comment
waylap
I feel too loose in them so I switched to briefs. Link to comment
CoarsegoldKid
No but they should have me on the design team. Link to comment
waylap
Sorry for the cheesy attempt at humor, I'd be interested in a new design myself. I never could get over the switch in curves to straight lines from the 1150 to the 1200 although I hear it's a much better bike all over. I've purposely avoided riding the 1200 for fear I'd be signing paper work on one. Link to comment

keithb
It will be interesting to see what changes BMW will make to the RT in the future. It took them 7 years to change from the 1100 to the 1150 in 2002 and then introduced the new R1200RT in 2005 just 3 years later. Increasing engine h.p. would be an easy one for them to make. At this point only the BMW R&D people know. GOT SPIES? Link to comment
camille
No but they should have me on the design team. So give us your uber-dream machine.....the current GS is pretty sweet, right? Link to comment

I don't care how much money it takes but they better get over to Italy and steel a designer, Germans are good engineers but leave a lot to be desired in the body design department. JamesW
If the Germans are such "great" engineers what's with clutch/input shaft splines and final drives that crap out?? I mean BMW has had input shaft spline issues since the days of the R90 for cripe sake. Link to comment

notacop
No more 1200? Maybe Triumph will see fit to replace BMW in the bigger is mobetta with an dual sport version of their in line triple Rocket Three. Plenty of torque and horse power. Just need to work on the suspension. Bragging rights to anyone that can heft it off and on the center stand unaided! Link to comment
jcheston
There is a snippet in this week's Motorcycle News (UK publication) that suggests that, rather than looking for more power/higher-tech, a cheaper, lower-spec air-cooled boxer engine may be under development. The rumour column also comments that the idea is to create a new range of lightweight machines, although the success of the F800 range may mean that the project never gets beyond the concept stage. John Considering what BMW came up with when they tried to make a high tech control system in their 7-series cars, I'm less than enthusiastic with the prospects of yet more "BMW engineering". How about something simple like less weight for obvious reasons, and increased reliability so we can finally put an end to the spline threads! Link to comment

While I love my R1200RT, I think my favorite so far was my R1150RT. Cheers, Steve Link to comment

My previous bike was a K1200RS (99 - The Silver Beast ) and I loved the look of that. I *really* wanted to like the NEW K1200GT's. (I've always like the R1150RT styling though). I just couldn't get past the looks of the bike. It just was too angular... almost ugly in my opinion (obviously owners of the current K1200GT are free to disagree with me). So I ended up on the R1200RT. I do love the look of that bike though... Link to comment
