noporkcom
I am having a couple of minor problems with my R1150RTP, 1st problem, when you shut the bike off the horn blows (loud), 2nd problem when I attempt to hookup the second battery the horn also blows the minute I touch the postive cable. It's driving me a little nuts, any help or a wiring diagram would be of great help! Link to comment

celebrationrev
I don't have the second battery - it was removed by the dealer before I bought it - but I have the same horn honk at shut off. However, I only get it when it's cool outside, say, below 60 degrees or so. Bike temp has nothing to do with it; I can ride for an hour, but if the ambient temp is low the horn gives a short blast as soon as I turn off the key. My solution? I moved to Arizona! Woodie
Good luck. Wiring on RTPs is a PITA. DAMHIK. Sounds like somebody screwed up the wiring when they prepped your bike for civilian sale. PS: The docs on that site are unlikely to help you. At least they were no help to me. If you still are unable to navigate that site, PM me. I think I d/l almost all the docs from there. (Not positive about the 1150 ones, I *know* I got the 1100 ones.) Link to comment
Nevets
This may not be your problem, but I had a problem with my RT-P "horn" when I bought it. Used to sound almost randomly. I'll never forget the first ride I gave the wife on the new bike. Leaving the neighborhood, it came on, and stayed on. Had to ride back through the neighborhood with the horn blasting away. Got some pretty strange looks. She was not impressed. Took it to the dealer, they mentioned that the switch probably didn't get much use from the police, and proceeded to spray contact cleaner into the handlebar switch. Never ever had a problem after that. Link to comment
knight88
The horn is wired to be able to be used even if the ignition is off (2nd battery is used always HOT), when the ignition is on the horn reverts to the PA airhorn and the on-bike horn is bypassed. I suspect that you have a short in the relay for the horn which is located beneath the radiobox plate on the right side of the chassis as you look at it from the rear of the bike. Link to comment
noporkcom
I really have to thank you, that's a great site. I should be able to figure it out with the wiring diagrams, as soon as I do. I'll post back. I think the problem is the horn fuse relay. I'll post back when I confirm. Link to comment
