richard mauro
04 RT clock used to work all the time - now when turn ignition off clock goes blank. When restarted clock goes to 00. Any ideas??? Link to comment
David
Probably a sign that your battery is close to needing replacement. When cranking requires enough power to drop the battery voltage below a certain level, the clock settings are not retained. Link to comment

David
Battery is 2 months old and is kept on a maintainer. That was just my first guess. I've never owned an '04, so there's probably all sorts of things about it I don't know. Maybe someone else will toss out a good idea or two. I suppose something could be wrong with the clock, but I don't ever hear about those sorts of failures. BTW, just because the battery is 2 months old doesn't really mean all that much. What's the standing voltage without a load on it? Have you had it load-tested? Good luck with it! Link to comment
Stan Walker
I would still think of this being a battery problem. New batteries can be bad. Best to check it with a known good volt meter. Loose wires / bad battery connections do occur. A voltmeter is your friend!!! Stan Link to comment
notacop
Check your relays for being properly seated. Even charged and ridden all the time my 2000 RTP goes to 00 sometimes on a miss start. Link to comment
richard mauro
When ignition is off - there is no clock/time being displayed- it used to display whether on/off- now comes on 00:00 when ignition on only Link to comment
Davis
check the fuse. The clock is powered continuously from one fuse. The rest of the RID is powered through a switched power lead. If the clock fuse is blown, the symptoms are just as described. The clock doesn't get power when the ignition is off and goes blank. When the ignition is on the RID power lights up the clock but at 00:00. Link to comment
Stan Walker
That would be Fuse #3 Link to comment
