A few pics from a ride today in England

I have enjoyed the last few days looking at photos and reading tales of riding, and certainly the USA has a lot to offer.

I went for a ride today although the wind was horrendous. And I took a few pics on my phone which I hope you enjoy.

I rode into Derbyshire which is 45 mins away from home and the first pic is of Winnats pass

The white builing that can be seen in the bacground to the left of the MPV is Speedwell Caverns a labyrinth of underground caces with stalactites and Stalagmites and one travels through the system in a boat !!!....To the right is another chamber of caves which are vusited by foot ...In the summer here you often see hanggliders.

I carried on down the A6 towards a place called Matlock Bath a traditional haunt for bikes on a Sunday, However one passes Ashford in the Water ...well worth a stop

The sign above the bike is ...The Black Bull ..An English Pub!!..However as I was riding I resisted the temptation to pay a visit.

A couple more pics of Ashford in the Water

And here is an ancient packhorse bridge.

before the bridge was built there was a ford hence the villages name I suspect...If you look at the left side of the bridge you will see an ancient pinfold...Sheep were brought to the river and washed before shearing.

Onwards to Matlock Bath which was in Victorian times a spa resort, People from Nottingham and Derby I suspect visited to take the waters...

Now on a Sunday a mecca for bikes...in Summer you cant move

Hi Channa,

It's amazing what you can do with a telephone these days.

And thanks for sharing wink.gif

My buddy and I are planning a trip to the Lake District and we are pouring over all the info we can find.

One of the questions we have is in early September whether to book B&B lodgings ahead or do you think that we could keep things open until the mid afternoon times?
