krussell
The regular rain and mountain snow has relented for a few days and afforded me the opportunity to take a 200mi ride from Portland to Cannon Beach to Astoria and back. It was low 30s over the passes but the roads were dry. The view was great from everywhere, you could see forever. The rain/snow start back today. :-( Link to comment
Twisties
Hey, that's an RT Is that a zumo sitting on a z-technic mirror hole mount? How do you like that setup? Glad you made it out for a day. Jan Link to comment
krussell
I'm happy with the Zumo setup, it is exactly as you assumed. I had it mounted in a similar location on my Harley, so it feels right. I bought the BMW power connector and hooked it into the factory GPS connector. On the Harley I used the included RAM mounts which allowed for quick removal. I miss that a bit. Taking the Zumo out of them mount with the little security screw is a pain. I want to use the Zumo on my Bicycle as well, and am struggling with another $80 for a second 'cycle mount. I may end up switching to RAM so I can move it back and forth using the ball connector. BobsST
Not so nice on the east side. Snow is starting to fly again this morning. There has been a few chances to ride but usually to much ice and snow in the neighborhood to get out to the main roads. Link to comment

Bruce H
It's raining here today however mid 40's, no ice at least. I was thinking about getting a GS out. We'll see how motivated I get. Link to comment

Pretty sure it's taken from the site of The Astor Column. The bridge is The Astoria-Megler Bridge. Nailed it! The views were really excellent in all directions. I should have grabbed some more pics of the mountains during the ride but extracting the camera, pulling off the gloves, etc. limits me when it's really cold. I need to rig a helmet cam so whenever I am looking at something really great I just think picture and it takes one. :-) Link to comment
krussell
That's a nice looking photo...you coming to the UnRally? Hadn't paid much attention, I more of a lone rider. I read up though, and it sounds like fun. It's also an area of Oregon I would like to explore more too. I've got a family camping obligation that may overlap, but I'll be working on making it fit. Effjay
<snip> Taking the Zumo out of them mount with the little security screw is a pain. If you haven't visited and joined Zumo Forums, you are missing out on a great resource. For example, check out Marco's "security screw" - it's is a Dutch Treat! krussell
Same shot, two years later, different bike. Beautiful day, 60ish degrees, severe clear. Link to comment
SWB
Nice. In my heart I know I want a GS, but I just can't give up the RT. It's been 5 years or so now since I've been on a dirt bike - sold the last desert bike 2 years ago. I really want to go nosing around someplace where there's payment on only about half the roads. But .. I like the RT. (And no, I can't have both, according to the wifey. Nice looking ride. Get out there and get it dirty now!. - Scott Link to comment
