Autocom SuperPro AVI comments

I used my XM radio fed into my Autocom Superpro AVI on last week's trip to DV and thought I'd pass along some comments. For the trip up from Tucson and return, I used AZ Al's ear plug speakers and they are wonderful. I really don't like the hassle of using them but the sound quality is outstanding. Even had to put a small attenuator in line for simple volume reduction. While at DV, I just used my helmet speakers and for the first time found the rider volume control on the SuperPro AVI. It works great for increasing volume on the satellite radio such that I could hear it ok using my helmet speakers (no earplugs). I also notice the significant increase in volume if I stood up such that I was getting a lot of wind noise in the helmet. The headset has a second mic that senses the noise floor ambient within the helmet to trigger an AGC. That worked great so if in a crosswind, it automatically increased volume. Great feature that worked great. FYI

That is very good to hear John. I plan on going to this unit some time this year if I can fit it into a suddenly tightened budget. thumbsup.gif

+1 on the Super Pro. I'm surprised that you need a volume control because the background noise sensor should automaticlally adjust volume for speed/ambient noise. When I slow down or stop, the volume decreases.

When I have the "soft volume" adjusted for max on the Roady, it is just too high for the earplug speakers. I could change the "soft volume" instead of using the small RS attenuator but requires several button pushes and the small volume wheel on the attenuator is just a lot easier. Once adjusted for either earplug or helmet speakers, then the AGC works fine in adjusting for the RMS noise.

I have the same set up with ER-6 earspeakers. I just added an inline volume control for each line I was running, and can fine tune the volume no problem. The XM radio doesnt have a volume control, and its easier to use the inline volume control for my ipod than the actual Ipod control or an accessory ipod remote, which Im afraid Id drop. My only criticism is that I get a slight feeback whine from the engine, possibly because the unit was mounted too close to the electrical system on the bike.
