co_g30
I just had both tires replaced on my 1150RT, went with Metzeler 880s as before. I noticed that the dealer did not put on any wheel balancing weights after they removed the old ones from the rims.... I've not noticed any issues and I've had the bike up to 80mph with no problem. am I worried about nothing? Link to comment

KDeline
FWIW, I have not used weights in more then 10 years, seems like the tires are better balanced now, or I just am not in tuned with my bike like others are. Link to comment

On the other hand it might lead to uneven tire wear if the balance was omitted by the dealer for some reason.. My advice is: call the dealer up & ask them.. If they say it balanced out Ok without adding weights then if you believe them you are good to go.. On the other hand if they say oh s**t maybe we forgot,, or that wasn’t part of the mounting price deal then you know that also.. A lot of the tires with the match mount dots are coming in closer in balance now but seldom perfect.. Twisty Link to comment
ADulay
Had something similar. Went in for a rear tire repair (massive flat, not repairable) and when the new one came out, NO WEIGHTS! Asked them about it and they said it balanced spot on so they didn't put any on. Still had two small ones on the front so they do check them for sure. No problems so far and smooth as a, well, a BMW! smiller
As Twisty just said this is rare but it does happen. Personally, I think it's rare enough that I'd be suspicious... but if the installer swears that no weights were required then I suppose you have to believe him. BUT... I'd make sure that this is really the case, not merely another employee telling you everything's OK based on nothing but their own assumption. Another good reason to do it yourself if you ask me. That said, if the bike seems to be riding OK then you're probably reasonably close and I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Link to comment
Godfather
Dyna Beads (ceramic balancing beads) will put your mind at ease. www.dynabead.com no connection, just information. Link to comment
ElevenFifty
Check your URL ... dynabead.com is now Invitrogen ... not the tire balancing system - those are atthis site Don't use them or know anyone who does ... interesting though Link to comment
co_g30
thanks everyone for your answers. I did call the dealer, service rep said the tires both balanced out just fine so no weights. Link to comment
realshelby
Just for added peace of mind....I have not balanced the last 8 sets of tires I have mounted. No vibration or uncommon tire wear. If I were to get a tire that had a vibration I would be concerned about its construction more than simply balance. Link to comment
NonComp
When I had my rear wheel straightened, I got the guy to mount a new 880 that I had bought elsewhere. He told, when I picked the wheel up, that the tire was almost perfectly balanced and that he hardly ever saw them that good. Link to comment
