Tony_K
Yes, I was reluctant to look but took a peek at them today. Um yeah there is a lot of tire missing. I guess extra elevated speeds over the course of 4 days will do that. 980+miles all done 2 up took a toll on the PR's on that rough surface out there. Fun comes at a price I guess. Link to comment
bakerzdosen
Unfortunately, my tires are looking EXACTLY the way they did before DVD... Link to comment
barryNmarin
Tony, on the way home, we noticed my rear tire looked like I'd just come from track day. It was worn down and into the wear bars after about 6000 miles including 1500 this weekend. As you indicated we were traveling at a spirited pace much of the time. But wasn't it fun!!!! The funniest case of that was Brian T who showed up at Torrey with a brand new set of D220's, and went home with a set of D220's that were bald on the sides. That was the time PhillyFlash, Lisa and I, and Brian and Meghan were playing MotoGP all the way from the Lake Powell ferry back to Hanksville...running along with the RT's pegged at 131 on the GPS. But we slowed down to 120 for the corners. Link to comment
Dennis Andress
Tony, There's a simple pattern in all of this. Every 6000 miles, or every weekend outing: Change all oils. Replace both tires. Every other event, change rear brake pads. Does that make it easier? Link to comment

Tony_K
Yeah this set started new at spring Torrey made it all the way to fall Torrey and pretty much finished off at DVD all with lots of riding in between! I guess if you look at it from the trip perspective they did out standingly well. 2 of those rides with Lori as co pilot with fall Torrey on my own. And your right Barry it was a very good weekend Link to comment
johnlt
Lost about half of my rear TKC 80 due to 1300 miles of pavement. I've got 3K on them now and think they'll probably go 4 or 5 K before I need to replace them. Rear is the one showing the wear. Front still looks great. Link to comment
Dennis Andress
True, We're getting a little over 7,000 with the Avon's, but for practical budgeting, tires and oil changes happen close enough together to allow them to be considered simultaneous. I think the K12 goes through rear brakes faster than anything else I've ever owned. They are lasting longer since I replace my rear disk at 70,<something> miles. Link to comment

JerryMather
Mine are fine and I put them on right before the last Torrey ride. I was even thinking that I just might get to use them again up there, but that's only if the rain stops around here and I get to ride the 996 more often this spring. I kinda doubt that will happen, but I'm good with mine until May for sure. Maybe keeping it just below triple digits is a good thing after all. Link to comment
stubble!
I put a new PR2 on the rear before DVD, and it's well scrubbed in and looking beautiful. The front was an M1 with about 2k on it before DV, it was looking good. After the 14xx mile DV weekend it's TOAST and I've got a Pilot Power 2Ct on the way from swmoto. Doing the ShovelStrokeEd thing with the combo, I look forward to seeing how it works. Link to comment

I definitely like them better than the Bridgestone 021's. Link to comment
CraigC
I was riding with Avon Storms when I discovered I had a bad front tire (severe cupping and one spot was dangerously paper thin). Made it back to Las Vegas for a new set and was told I was riding on borrowed time. If it wasn't for my riding buddy, Tim Morgan, who noticed the problem while we were stopped near Furnace Creek, I would have certainly have had a blow out. (By the way, not the first time that Tim has saved my ass.) The dealership informed me that Avon tires, although a good tire, was not on BMW's approved list of tires for the RT and furthermore, I exacerbated the situation by overinflating my tires. Fortunately this happened on Saturday and the service department was still open when I arrived. My thanks to BMW Motorcycles of LV for getting me back on the road. Link to comment

BeniciaRT_GT
There were corners?! Why yes I'm sure you remember... That was the parts where I kept passing you and stopping. My tires are toast, but they made the trip after starting over half worn out/recycled anyway. Link to comment
