In my quest for the perfectly functional stable, I determined that some changes were in order. We had a Harley that we NEVER rode, & two of basically the same bike, the XR & 950 Adv, although one was WAY more fun than the other. So, first to go was Skillet. Short story, we sold my beloved T-Bird to a friend earlier this year. Come to find out, they were wanting to sell it, & a boat. The Wife asks; "Do you think Scott would want to trade both for a Harley?" A week later, last Sunday, I rode the Pan 20 miles to their house, The Wife drove the truck, & we brought these home. My T-Bird, & a 20' Shamrock with a 302 inboard. Next up on the block was the XR. Since I got the 950, I've ridden it exactly...never. The Boy had ridden it a few times, but it just wasn't making sense to keep it. I got a response for trade for a very interesting /5. It's a '70 R75, but has been bored to 800cc's. We drove up to Valdosta early today to make the trade. I now own probably the only R80/5 in existence. A bit cosmetically challenged, but this is a project for me. An "Old School" cafe' project. What's really special about this bike is, I'm the third owner. The guy I got it from had it for a year, & put exactly 100 miles on it. But, more importantly, the original owner bought the bike new in Germany, rode it for a short time, then shipped it to his home in Ill. All documentation is present & accounted for! Every detail, every personal note in the shop manual. Craig Jackson would be proud. The drooling may now commence. Link to comment
