Russell Day-long backrest

Can any of you out there that have Russell Day Long seats with factory back rests tell me what you do to tie down the backrest so someone can't just come along while it's parked and take the back rest?

 

I just got my seat back and found out that the back rest just slips in a hollow bracket and nothing retains it. Someone could remove it from the bike in less than 30 seconds. Just curious if anyone has put in a retaining screw from the underside of the seat.

 

Also, did any of you have a problem with the back rest being set too far forward? I just sent my seat back to get that adjusted and the problem is that the back rest is forward of the back of the front seat to the point that it was impossible to ride comfortably even with it adjusted all the way back.
