R1150RT and Autolite 3923 plugs

The standard Auto Lite 3923 is gapped at .32- .34 the Single Platinum AP 3923 is gapped at .36 - .38 which I just installed and they are great! I don't know what the double platinum APP plugs gap at but suspect they are even wider at .38 -.40. I got the standards and the single AP plugs in two packs at Walmart in plastic packs already gapped at the above. My Walmart did not have the DOUBLE APP so I can not say what they come at and if as some one earlier mentioned that they need higher voltage to jump the wider gap. I am having no problems with the single AP 3923 (actually works slightly better than the reguler 3923 which was a big improvement over the BMW plugs in the bike). AndyT

Just to put in my 2 penn'orth, having read the thread from end to end, I thought, "why not ?". The only ones I could source were xp3923 (iridium), they arrived and I took them out of the box and put them into the bike (2001 R1150RT) with no adjustment.

The difference is astounding !

How can a pair of spark plugs make such a huge difference ?

Idle much smoother, pulls better and surge is hardly noticeable now.

Suffice to say I will not be using any other type of plug in future.

Thanks to everyone for sharing this info.

Regards

Dave
