skinny_tom (aka boney)
It's ON! Here's some links... Check the Weatherman live feed at: http://www.race-dezert.com/wm/wm.html Follow the GPS at: http://irctracking.com/2007/baja1000/North/ One of the guys over at ADVRider.com has a podcast and set up a call in line for updates, and is posting the widget to hear them at: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284199 Or, if you know how to plug a URL into your feed, use this: http://feeds.feedburner.com/rallyraidio (get the spelling right) I was having trouble with the stream so I dug kinda deep and found this: Observatory http://www.race-dezert.com:8800/weatherman1.mp3 Vizcaino http://www.race-dezert.com:8800/weatherman2.mp3 Loreto http://www.race-dezert.com:8800/weatherman3.mp3 Cabo http://www.race-dezert.com:8800/weatherman4.mp3 Use your mp3 player and "open" those links then "play" them for the stream. russell_bynum
I can't get anything to work. (Damn firewalls) Edit: I finally got the weatherman stream page to load. I'm not hearing anything, though. The text updates look a bit scary...Helicopter down with 2 fatal and 2 critical. On the lighter side...I love this: "Someone listening to some really bad music has a stuck mic." Link to comment
GelStra
"No Richard Cranium awards yet, but some stuck mics are working on it!" Link to comment
StretchMark
Pretty cool. I hope Ned (Neduro) does well! Great guy!! Link to comment
russell_bynum
Are you guys able to hear the weatherman streams? I just tried from a box that shouldn't have any firewall issues, but I always get a network error trying to play the streams manually, and no errors, but no sound when I go through the player in their webpage. johnlt
That must be the reason that Blain closed SWMotoTire for a week!! I guess he has his priorities right. Link to comment

skinny_tom (aka boney)
Russell, I had no luck with their web player either. I usually have to try a couple times to get the manual stream to (re)start. Link to comment

Yep, I had to double-click on +stream, then double-click on "Observatory". Long pauses between transmissions. Link to comment
jeddy
Pretty cool. I hope Ned (Neduro) does well! Great guy!! +1 on Ned. This is pretty interesting to me. Starting on the 24th of February, I'm riding Baja all the way from Ensenada to Cabo. Much of the route is on this years course. It's a seven day ride covering about 150 miles a day. I'm only average in the dirt, so it's sort of like not knowing how to swim and being thrown in the deep end of the pool. Can't wait! Link to comment
StretchMark
Starting on the 24th of February, I'm riding Baja all the way from Ensenada to Cabo. Cool! We expect a Ride Report. Is it a guided tour? Or just going with a group? Link to comment
jeddy
Cool! We expect a Ride Report. Is it a guided tour? Or just going with a group? Guided. Chris Haines, 12 time Baja 1000 winner is doing the honors. Chris should be racing right now. He will have six of us in tow along with a sweep rider. I've got to decide soon if I'll ride a CRF 450X or an XR400. Hmmmm. http://www.chrishaines.com/about_us.htm Link to comment
russell_bynum
I finally got the web stream to work. This is wild. He's relaying messages to people to direct an ambulance to the accident involving the two chase trucks. Shesh...there's been 11 incidents and at this point, Weatherman says the only thing they're doing at this point is handling incidents and racers in trouble, and that's pretty much taking all their time. Sounds like it's turned into a real nightmare down there. If I'm reading this right, the lead vehicle is the 2x Honda (XR650R) and he's currently running about 70mph in the pitch black night on a dirt road around mile marker 735. Edit: Holy smokes. Now Weatherman's plane is having electrical problems. Everyone's having comm problems. Link to comment
Troper3
Great thanks for the digging Link to comment
russell_bynum
It's amazing to me that the Weatherman still sounds alert and rested. You can hear in some of the other folks' voices that they're getting tired, but he still sounds fresh. Classic update: "10:13 PCI update. A dozen donuts have been delivered and PCI crew is on sugar rush." Link to comment
skinny_tom (aka boney)
If ya'll don't know some of the moto results, here's something to chew on for a while. The Honda 1x team, riding a CRF450, finished the 1200+ miles or grueling baja rock/sand/whoops/silt in about 25 hours. I'm still sorting through the rest of the information. It was a tad busy at work yesterday so I didn't get a chance to keep up like I should. Link to comment
skinny_tom (aka boney)
Neduro and team finished last night. Don't have their total time handy. Everyone in good spirits, one rider with knee injuries (that didn't stop him from riding at the time of the wipe out) and a flat that cost over an hour. No motorcycle issues. Link to comment
outpost22
I was just down there with some pre-runners. Hope the 50 mph winds and dust storms have quit! Link to comment
