Lawman
Phil, What one needs to keep in mind is that even the Transit Police have radios...They really are police officers..Even the females.... I've never thought of Whip as a male chauvinist but I can't help but wonder if that was a factor in his decision to run? Link to comment

Huzband
...you might be able to outrun the police car but you can't outrun the Motorola.. My mantra from my high school days. DAMHIK. Exactly why I obey ALL speed limits at ALL times. Well, except for that time in S.C. on the way back from Shawn's. But, if you don't get a ticket, it don't count. Link to comment

Whip
I was on my way home from work mindin my own bidness(6 pm Friday), still downtown, lots of one way streets, traffic lights every block, 4 way stops, heavy traffic. I was goin through the traffic at about 25 mph. The cars were goin about 10mph. I was changin lanes back and forth going through and past the cars. I came to a light 1 block before the freeway I was going to get on, 5 police cars quickly surrounded me. One car came from behind and blocked my progress, drew her gun and started yellin at me. I had ER6i's with "The Little River Band" playin "Cool Change". I could only see the cops lips movin. She was angry. I got my helmet off and took out my ear pieces. She started to calm down right away. I think she thought I was a 17 year old squid. She said she had been chasin me for several blocks. I was calm and respectful. I said I was sorry and didn't see or hear her. She took my keys from the bike and my license and went to her car. The other 5 LEOs all came over and talked to me. I was respectful and continued to be as helpful as I could. They(the 5 cops) went over to her car talked with her and then left. When she finally came back over to me she had calmed down and I again apologized to her for not seein her. I asked her if I had been speeding, she said "No". Did I miss a light or stop sign, "No". I waited for the punch line. It seems I had changed lanes without signally far enough in advance. So that's what I got a ticket for. The most interesting part was that she wouldn't let me put my ear plugs back in before I rode off. She said she would write me another citation if I put them in. I told her I always ride with ear protection, she said she has a GW and doesn't because she wants to see and hear everything around her. It was a noisy ride home and my ears are still ringin as I post this. I told her the GW has a lot more wind protection than the bike I was ridin. Overall I think she wanted to stop me early and give me a good talkin to, but once she called in the reinforcements she had to give me a ticket. Whatever. I'll go see my get outa tickets for a small fee lawyer tomorrow and see what happens. In a month I won't even remember it happen. BTW...Roadscholar has a different story, with a happy ending. This the last time I call the Lawman after dealin with a fellow officer. It must be that thin Blue Line. I didn't know ear plugs/speakers were against the law??????????????????? Link to comment

eddd
I don't think I'd consider that boring...I'd put it in the scary column. Seems like someone might have over reacted...pulling a gun because you didn't signal and then didn't stop. It would seem that your speed and lack of evasive driving would have been an indication that you weren't really fleeing. You are taking it better than I would have. Hope your lawyer has luck with this one. Good choice in bands, BTW. Any mention of the Little River Band has me "Reminiscing" Link to comment

Rocket_Cowboy
I didn't know ear plugs/speakers were against the law??????????????????? Laws related to ear plugs vary state to state. Some states complete forbid them, others only allow use in one ear. I'm with you though, I wear them regardless. Had she told me I couldn't put them back in, I'd have gone down the road a short distance until out of eye sight, and then put them right back in. Link to comment

Hope your lawyer has luck with this one. Good choice in bands, BTW. Any mention of the Little River Band has me "Reminiscing" She never pointed the gun at me, just unholstered it. I never felt threatened or nervous in anyway. Still not too worried about it. I've had many "run ins" with the LEOs. Most of the time I was on the border of the law and pushed it, this time I was doin the same thing. I was not "respectful" of the cagers. They were obstacles, pylons, and I prolly pushin it a bit more than I should have. At the same time the lady LEO felt like I was runnin. She may have overreacted, but she was doin what she thought was her job. I can live with what happen, I'll turn down the volume and hopefully hear the sirens in the future. It could have been an EMT tryin to save someones life. The inner ear speakers and the Law still bother me. Link to comment
