Whip
After sayin "Good Bye" to Bill Walker and Tom "Hitman" Wiley we started up the ALCAN. Mrs Whip was sure we were getting close to Alaska. A gas stop on the ALCAN. Are these "Wild Horses"???? Mrs Whip found someone her size to talk with...not so wild after all. While getting ready for this trip we had decided to switch to knobby tires before we started any dirt ridin. With the help of the internet and some friendly folks in Fort Nelson we had tires waitin for us at this shop. I had takin my tires off and on a couple times already, Chris had not had time to practice on the 650 so it took us a minute to figure it out. Mrs Whip had some fun takin pix of us workin on the bikes. Glad my stitch had knee pads. He wanted to help, but his boss wouldn't let him. They put the new tires on the rims and we put em back on the bike. Manny, Mo and .....err...Chris......at your service. This is about the time I realized I had never ridin a big bike on the road with knobs... Do those tires with the chains make my a%# look big. Can you imagine how much snow they must get to have to put chains on a vehicle with those tires on it. The road never stopped changin......(cold wet and knobs???????....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????) .....either did the weather. Is that snow???? Oh Boy!!!!......ugh..... Bears!!!!!!!!! I had read about this and been warned.....disconcerting is the best way to describe it...the bike feels like it has a mind of it's own......it wobbles back and forth... left right left right left right left right......the first couple times I fought it and it got worse.....I was afraid to exhale because it could be my last breath. Even though you have huge sight lines these critters blend in so well you have to be extra careful. Muncho Lake The GPS said pull over your hotel is on the left. Can't fool Mr Olson.......he knows where the hotel is??????????....5 miles down the road. We had little cabins behind the lodge. We were lookin forward to stayin at this place. The internet pix and description made it look like a great place to spend a few days. Muncho Lake Lodge We only had a few hours and the weather was not cooperating. We had another not so memorable meal and in the mornin took some pix. Everyone wants to be Marty. Marty's room That's all for this week.......but stay tuned for scenes from our next episode. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Whip Link to comment

The very first day I got my RT I got the enjoy two such bridges. You just have to relax and let the bike go where it wants to. If you want a little practice, come up to Seattle! The fun starts when the bridge deck is wet, it's about 40 degrees, raining and windy. Knobbies just add to the excitement! Great photo here, Whip. Link to comment

chrisolson
Our map for day three even though the weather was gloomy, there was a bit of color around our accomodations another view of the lake - which was long and narrow. The road to the lodge is along the left side of the picture Link to comment
arbee
And you had the audacity to take a photo whilst in the cold & wet on the bridge straddling 50, two hundred metre parallel samuarai swords with knobbies on Kool Hand Luke Link to comment
