terp Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I am new. I would like to get a R1200RT, what a beautiful motorcycle. I am looking to get some good info here.
seahog Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Welcome, Jeff... you've come to the right place to find out about BMWs. You will find that the folks on this forum probably know as much about these bikes as old Emil Bimmer (inventer of opposed twins). I just bought my first BMW a few months ago, and I'm absolutely delighted with it. Good luck on your purchase of an '08!
Lawman Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I am new. I would like to get a R1200RT, what a beautiful motorcycle. I am looking to get some good info here. Jeff, Welcome to the club and what a great attitude!!! I see from your profile that you are 58 years old and still consider yourself to be "new". I just turned 52 and feel very "old"..I think I'll take a page from your book and start over tomorrow..Thanks for coming, sit back, make yourself at home, and enjoy the show...
Dances_With_Wiener_Dogs Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Welcome to the gang. Spend a few days/weeks reading all of the posts here and familiarizing yourself with the Search feature. We don't mind answering questions but you may find that the popular ones have been asked and answered.
texasaggie97 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Welcome Jeff, This is a great site with very helpful folks. I would not still own my BMW if this group was not here to ask question to. I have a ministry job now and this site allows me to afford the work on my bike. Great place to hang and learn.
Francois_Dumas Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 You're so lucky ! I feel like a newbie too, but after 3 years on this board they don't buy it anymore Welcome! Tell us a bit about your riding skills/experience.... it helps in giving answers to questions Francois
RJP3579 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Newbie here also, to this board at least. Been riding my R850R around for two years. Now looking to upgrade to an RT. Looking for an '04. Can't swing for a new one right now. The RT's look big compared to my little 850...
Tapatio Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 The RT's look big compared to my little 850... Looks are very deceiving. The R12RT has a lot of plastic but underneath that is a very light chassis/engine. Don't let the size fool you.
Mike05 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Welcome to the Board!! Unless your dead set on a '08 RT, there seems to be what looks like a good buy on an '05 in the classified section here. LINKY Good luck in your search.
RJP3579 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Yes, I saw that one. Thanks. I just like the previouse style over the new ones.
hANNAbONE Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 wELCOME wELCOME..to to you you both both..!..!
Silver Surfer/AKAButters Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Welcome to both of you. I have only been a member here since February and already Ihave learned a lot of things and saved a ton of money. Made some friends along the way as well. Read the FAQs, learn how to use the search engine, and then fire away with anything you can't easily find. It's all here.
empeg9000 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 You can't go wrong on an RT. I just picked mine up two weeks ago. I am still amazed at how fast I can ride it and I am coming off and S too.
TyTass Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I am new. I would like to get a R1200RT, what a beautiful motorcycle. I am looking to get some good info here. Welcome Jeff, Take some time to figure out the board - where to find the info (technical data, rider improvement, and upcoming events and ad hoc rides, as well as people's own rider tales!). Yes, there are tons of info here - but also lot's of extremely experienced people from all walks of life who will help with all sorts of issues - aside from BMW-related info. All in all, you'll find that this board has a lot of character ... and characters. A great place to hang out while online. But I have found it even better for finding great ride events with people who share the same interest ... RIDING, specifically, Sport Touring (and not just hanging out in a place talking about riding). Good luck finding the BMW of your dreams. Besides the classified here, I also suggest searching: BMWMOA (BMW Owners of America) Ebay I suggest you be very careful with Ebay. That said I bought my 04 RT one year ago on Ebay in immaculate condition. Welcome!
TyTass Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Yes, I saw that one. Thanks. I just like the previouse style over the new ones. Hello and Welcome Neighbor! Please check out my previous post on this thread for a couple of quick sources. There are good deals out there. Can I suggest you do your own Intro Post? Also, please fill your profile out further so we can get to know you a bit - at least know what to call you!
dewtwo Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 So - what's your favorite oil???? Oh yeah, I did the same thing and got yelled at!
notacop Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Yep welcome and blessings from the all knowing constituency of Sport Touring Riders. Farkel and bling to what your master card can afford. Take a track day and say good bye to a ticket free existence. Read all the entrys here and become one of the knowledgeable. Or..Abandon hope to all who enter here...
