Tank Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Ok....I have over 100,000 on this RT and feel that the main throttle cable is probabley overdue... this guestion is for people that have been in there. Does the Right+ Left TB cables dend to wear out? Cable distribution box ?? My dealer is over a hundred miles away and if the concentis is to renew the hole shebang I'll pick it all up, But I'd rather not just replace something that does not need it.... thanks for any advice from your experence. the lines are now open
Ken H. Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 It's rare for the short cables from the Bowden junction box to the throttle bodies to fail. ISFA the Bowden box itself, the most common problem is sticking fast idle ("Choke") slider that advance the cable wheel. If yours is working OK, I'd probably just clean the Bowden box up and put it back in services. Don't lube anything in it though. Just attracts dirt and then you will have issues with it.
Tank Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Thanks Ken, I believe thats what I remember reading back in the olden days of yesteryear when I bought this RT. Just needed a refresher.
Bill_Walker Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I just replaced all of mine, and the bowden box, at the 36K service, since the throttle was feeling a bit stiff. I think the whole lot cost $70. Cheap insurance against cable breakage in my book.
