Lawman Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 A while back I installed lower footpegs on my R1200RT ..Now I would like to lower the shifter a little..I notice I need a special tool to remove the bolt that tightens the clamp that holds the shifter on the shaft..Anyone know what tool and what size?
Ken H. Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 They called an "E-Torx" as in external torx. Sears, etc. sell the sockets in sets now.
Lawman Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 great....thanks.......I'll order a set today..
Dietrich Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Funny, that this comes up here now. Just was confronted with that yesterday, also installed lower pegs. Did not have a proper socket either, used and "adjustable 15" also known as a vice grip. Worked, no problem, I replaced the bolt with an equivalent allen head bolt that I had in my collection for easier future removal. Will go and look for a set of sockets though, one can never have enough tools!
BigAdv Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 A six piont 1/4" socket will fit this fastener, E-8, and an 8mm six piont will work on an E-10. Earl
