R12RT Seat Position Observation

I have an '05 R1200RT with the Low Seat.

The seating position always seemed like I was being pitched forward. Sort of like an involuntary Master Yoda at work. I also disliked the way it made my uhhh physique feel all slid forward like that.

Yesterday I moved the seat to the top position and it felt much better... the seat felt more level and less push forward. The knees were great, but this left me with both feet sort of tippy-toed.

When I got back to the garage I went to put the seat back to Low position. I noticed that the front positioning bar did not easily go to to the lower position, but seemed to stick about half-way down. The consequence of that was that the rear positioning bumpers landed in the UPPER receiving cups!

This means the back side of the seat was in the upper position, and the front is in the half-way lower position, thus sliding my skinny butt forward. Duh!

With a little (considerable) pressure, I was able to push the front locating bar into its lower position, this allows the rear bumpers to go to the rear/lower cup. Viola as the say in France... it is now level, less push forward and Master Yoda Riding Position will have to be achieved with no involuntary help from the seat.

You may also remove the rear bumpers and get to the lower position. I found putting the front in the high position and the rear in the low position worked well for my 29" inseam. I'm on the balls of my feet if both feet are down.

Great suggestion. I was also contemplating cutting down the rear bumpers or trying to find a smaller substitute bumper.

Thanks

I tried it and it did not work. Did you mean put the front in the high position- then remove the rear bumpers and fit it to the rear to the low slot? or did you mean leave the bumpers on and fit the rear to the lower?
