Whip Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Everyone needs their own personal lake they can call their own. Today we gathered the gang and headed for Lake Louise Alberta Canada. After meeting up with Bill Walker and his body guard/hit man(Tom) the day before and getting Chris from the airport, uniting him with his bike, having dinner in some noisy less than spectacular place. We got up the next mornin to begin our trip. We have lift off. Our first stop was a pull out on the East side of Flathead Lake. Tommy "The Hitman" Wiley Mr Olson. That smile didn't leave his face for the next 25 days. Mrs Whip...stylin!!! Bill Walker...the Un-Phil....he tells ya he doesn't think he can make it to whatever your planning and the day your getting ready to leave he calls and says, "Where's that place again". When you get there, he's waitin on ya. Torrey XVI comes to mind, and I bet the UN works out the same way. As we got to the Canadian Border my thermo was sayin high 90's. It wasn't this hot in San Antone. For 50 yards you can only do 50kph.....then all the way to 80kph. Immediately the rivers had a turquoise color to them. And temps crossed the century mark....from hot to hotter.. Fire!!!! Easy Mr Olson.....we got a long way to go......besides your embarrassing Tom on the GT. I'm gettin hungry..... Louise and I had been in the area before and really liked the "Black Bear Cafe". It was closed.....so we went next door. Where we met a drunk man named Steve. He was very friendly. He bought us all lunch and gave Mrs Whip a pat on her back side. We even got a lesson on Canadian and US politics. I thought we had a picture of him, but I can't find it anywhere. This is his dog. I have no idea what this is about. I remember this....Bill doin his Richard imitation.....Get your keys out before you put your gloves on. Back on the road headin for Louise's Lake. All present and accounted for. Finally some fun roads... Locals.... We gotta try this... Finally....Chris was about to run outa gas..... The Deer Lodge...our first night in Canada.... Lucky we all had reservations. Bill with his Body Guard/Hitman.... Mr. Olson....Did ya forget somethin????....a spare key for the bike maybe?????? Whip said this was gonna be one of the best meals I have ever had!!!! Did I say that.....I meant the worst and most expensive....it takes a lot of practice to be both. UGH!!!!!! Before/after dinner we went for a walk over to the Lake. In the mornin Mr Olson and I took a little walk over to Lake Louise. It sure looked different with the sun rising. We didn't stay long...we had places to be and miles to go before we slept. So we said good bye To Mrs. Whip Lake and promised to come and visit again soon. Next stop....for lunch. Bow Lake. The lake is fed by this Glacier. Home of the Num Ti Jah Lodge The birds watch your vehicles while you eat..... and sometime their not ready to give up their perch. Bye Bye birdy... That's all for this week...... Next Up..... Y'all have a great weekend and a better week. Whip
bakerzdosen Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 As always... fantastic pictures with a great story (aka, not too wordy). Did you ever have any reception problems with the XM up there?
chrisolson Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 This was our day one route ... another shot of the adventerous crew taking in Lake Louise... I liked this picture where its flowing out into a stream taken the morning before we left for Dawson Creek... It was a great first day !
Whip Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 As always... fantastic pictures with a great story (aka, not too wordy). Did you ever have any reception problems with the XM up there? XM was good till we got to the Yukon ,then we went to the Ipod/ MP3 Zumo stuff. Chris downloaded books for us using Cindy's account. Next time I see her I better give her some $$. BTW....Did you get your SD card yet????
eddd Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Great pictures. I've been to Lake Louise twice by motorcycle and I never saw a sunny day. The second time we were going to wait out the bad weather until we saw the weather forecast...cold and rain was predicted for the next five days! You look like ya'll were having too much fun!
bakerzdosen Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 BTW....Did you get your SD card yet???? Oh yeah, got it. Remind me to send you a PM informing you of that or I could just mention it to you if we ever talk on the phone...
Twisties Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Fantastic! Great job! Love the pics. We went that route in about 1996. Need to do it again now we have bikes and digital cameras. I particularly liked Kootenay, though all our pics are film and I don't think I have any of those scanned. That turquoise water with the glacial flour in it is beautiful in the sunlight, and the west side (Kootenay) is so lush. Thanks!!!! Jan
Bill_Walker Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Fabulous pics, Whip. I'm sure Tom will get a kick out of being called my "body guard/hit man". He stood ever vigilant, ready to protect me from the wrath of Mr. Olson.
hANNAbONE Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 rIGHTEOUS pics, wHIPdON FWIW : #1 Flatthead Lake - the prettiest place in North America - I would retire there - #2 Lake Louise - the glacier sure looks smaller compared to my older pic's of the middle 90's #3 Please tell me that you traveled the 15 km to Morraine Lake (near Louise)...it's equally as pretty and has less tourists...in fact the roadway getting there would be quite entertaining as well. If you missed Morraine Lake - then we'll do that sometime soon...you'll lose your breath...
USAF1 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Love the "double" reflections... More, more, more..... Pat
