rshipp Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I am thinking about buying the GS boots. I don't do any offroad and did not know if it wouldn't be worth shelling out the dough for them. Are they worth it? Or should I get the Santiagos? Thanks
Dances_With_Wiener_Dogs Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi Richard. Other than you have a GS, what sort of riding do you like? Do you commute on your bike, ride in the rain or just like to go puddle jumping? I'm trying to flush out why you want the GS boots. If you want them to stay branded, then that's cool too. I don't have those but do have the SIDI Discovery boots. Mostly love them, but they do get hot in the summer. My summers are not nearly as hot as yours. There is a pretty good review of the GS boots: Here. They sure look good though...
JR356 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Hi, Look at the Oxtar Infinity Goretex boots. Similar to the previously mentioned Discovery's,but better ankle protection. JR356
rshipp Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Thanks for the replys. I guess I just wanted them because they were "GS" boots, plus I thought that I might benefit in some way with them. More protection, water proof, rugged, etc. I can get them for $250.00 in Houston, so I wanted to take advantage of the deal if they were worth it. They may be a little too much boot for me.
Rider1200RT Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I have the GS2 boots and I like them for the protection they offer. Last year in CO,I had a get-off with my GS and the bike partially landed on my boot. I didn't have as much as a bruise after this. I used them on my trip to Alaska this year and they worked very well. They aren't the most comfortable boots I own however. I have a pair of 'Transition' boots from BMW and they work better for day to day use, as they are easier to get on or off. The GS boots take a bit of fiddling with the straps. As far as protection goes, they are GS boots hard to beat.
